1. Where do you park and how much does it cost?
There are a few different lots around the vet school and I think the price ranges are $10, $20, or $30 a month. You'll get an e-mail about it when everything gets set up with UGA and you'll be able to rank the lots you're interested in.
2. Do many students carry a laptop to class or do you think it would be beneficial? I've been looking at getting a tablet laptop so that I can keep all of my stuff together.
I've kind of said this in another thread somewhere, but I'm definitely a paper/pencil note taker. I would say about 40%ish of our class has a laptop. However... not all of them are using it for note-taking. There's a lot of e-mailing and g-chatting and whatever going on (especially in the less interesting classes). It completely depends on you and how well you'll be able to pay attention when the internet is beckoning. You won't be alone either way. I can say that if I was going to switch to electronic, I would go tablet over traditional laptop, but that's just me and my note taking style.
3. What kinds of food/ products do you get for your personal pets?
There's a Hill's feeding program which gives discounted food (like $5 or $10 a bag, depending), Purina, and Iams used to be involved but apparently they're having some internal issues right now. There's a bunch of reps for all the different companies and usually it's cheaper in some way. I don't know about any other specific foods/products, but there's a lot of them out there.
4. Do you have any insightful information about UGA that might make my life easier?
I can't think of anything right now other than the generic new vet student stuff (such as don't let tough classes drag you down, you're in vet school for a reason and etc.). Anyway, I'll think on it and see if I can remember back to first year when I was waiting to start. But if anyone thinks of anything else in the meantime, I'll try my best to answer.
