I am a new student at TUSPM and looking for an apartment currently. On the schools website there are a few suggestions including:

Oxford Village
University Village
Kardon & Atlantic Terminal Buildings
The Edge at Avenue North
Sydenham Commons

I am looking for a single bedroom or a studio style apartment as I will be staying there alone. I just wanted so get some input from anyone that currently lives in any of these complexes or has any advice on others that may be a better fit. I am looking for something fairly close (within a few blocks). If you know of any places that may be worthwhile but are further away (15-20 min drive) please let me know as well since I will have a car. Any other advice would be great.

I know its a little late for august but I just wanted to get some simple advice on which places would be better. I will be heading up there in a week or so to look at various places. Just wanted a quick point in the right direction. Thank you!

I wouldn't do any of those places. All of those places are near Temple Main campus not the pod campus. Here is a short list of some apartments near the pod complex for you. PM if you have any specific questions.

9 North 9th The Warehouse Apts. (1 block from school)

The Metro Club
The Pearl

I would advise using craigslist and search chinatown, center city, old city, washington square west, society hill.

Those spots will put you either really close to a short walk to campus. There are a few management companies that are okay to use too, such as Philadelphia Management Company (lots of properties throughout the city) and jhm realty.

Thanks a lot for that list....i looked through a few and see some that interest me. Most of them are so expensive though $1000+. But ill check them out in person once I get there. Thanks again and any other apartments that anybody may suggest please let me know. Thanks.

Having been to Chinatown MANY MANY times, I'd highly suggest living there...it's a really beautiful part of the city, and the Temple Podiatry School is literally right there on the edge of it. You should be able to find some housing there...if not, my girlfriend's mother manages a few properties in Chinatown; perhaps she could work something out with you.

that would be great....if you could PM me and let me know how to get in contact with her that would be awesome. Chinatown does seem pretty interesting from what iv researched. ill def check it out once i get up there. thanks

The Metro Club

Can I borrow $2000 for rent to live there per month? ill invite you to the deck pool there.

Also dont forget to check out 1010 Race St Apartments and the Grandview Condominiums.

I used craigslist to find a 1BR place. As for PMC, places are filling fast to live. the lady who works for them said that its so hard to find tenants in the winter so all the best deals are during that time. the reason u should sign with PMC is that you can transfer to any of their locations if u hate living in one of their complexes. this will not break the lease. so if u want to move from the warehouse to metroclub in december you can. one downside is that PMC has an absurd amount of paperwork when u sign their lease.

I was looking at the Warehouse Apartments too. Seem really nice. But then my parents talked to someone from Philadelphia and they said anything north of Market Street is a bad area. So now they demanding that I live south. What a pain. Is there any validity to this? I wish my parents didn't talk to these people.

I'd say don't go north of spring garden street, or even Fairmount Ave. North of Market St is better on the west side of broad street rather than the east. I live at 15th and Mt Vernon St in a new apartment and my location is fine (1 mile from campus, bike there, takes 5 min)...its a street mixed with older residents and younger professionals. The next block up from me, 16th-17th on Mt. Vernon, they are completely rehabbing the entire block which will change the neighborhood (area being built up). I really like some of the houses from 15th to 23rd on most of the streets between Spring Garden and Fairmount (ie. Brandywine, Green, Wallace, etc) but I'd still come take a look before making any commitments. I know a few people who live at Park Towne Place near the art museum (http://www.parktowneapthomes.com/). I'd call for rates cause I dont think their are any on the site (search park towne place on philly craiglist) and they usually skip on fees (they also have parking, a pool, gym, shuttle to city hall, and other community-type events). There is also Northern Liberties area (2nd street between Girard Ave and Spring Garden Street and some of the surrounding numbered streets - 1-->5) which is a big up and coming area. Again, a little more distance away but get a bike - exercise.

I never considered getting a bike! I'm going up there next Friday and looking at a place in Rittenhouse Square, the Warehouse Apartments, Ben Franklin House, a couple places on Spruce, and Chancery Lane. Then I have my interview on the 17th so I will look again at the places I liked. Thanks for the advice!

I live in the Warehouse currently. If current residents bring in new residents we get a $1000. If you end up liking the Warehouse let me know so you can use my name and we can split the moolah 🙂

No problem. I really will do that. Do a lot of Temple Podiatry students live there? Do most live in the school apartments? I can't live in the apartments because I have a cat and want a 1 bedroom but where is the second best place to live with the most students from the school?

A decent number of temple students live in the Warehouse. Students are spread throughout the city. The nice thing about living at the Warehouse is that you are 1 block from campus so you can enjoy easy access to school and everyone who lives in the dorms. You are basically living on campus without living on campus.

I can think of about 6-10 students who live in the warehouse currently, spread throughout all the years. I am not sure how many of my classmates are living on campus next year or moving off.

Personally, I think if you live at the warehouse, or anywhere in old city, washington square west (spruce, lombard, pine streets around the 6-12 block numbers) you will be happy with your access to campus and other students.
