I am very lucky to have a choice between two good schools, however, I have until this Friday to make a decision as I have been accepted to both programs. I can go through to explain the pros and cons of both programs but I am trying to minimize lifestyle factors in order to base my decision on which school will provide the best opportunities for me to be the best possible clinician for my future patients.
Roughly speaking,
SA- Higher clinical requirements, Selecternships, the schools seem to be focused on making specialist and grooming students to be "the future presidents of the ADA. (Will be prepping DDS students for Implants), longer stands level of reputation
Hou- Has been doing the systems approached curriculum for a longer period of time then SA, the entire dental school facilities are fairly new (SA has a better clinic), better class culture (less gunner), teaches the student to manage implants and Hou seems to be a school on the incline but unfortunately does not have the best reputation historically (but I believe this is changing based on how stringent it is to get into their program currently.
I would love to hear any additional attributes of both programs especially from current students of either of these schools; I would love to hear your best argument why you believe your program made you the best possible dentist/specialist. Clinical capability/competence and various aspects of providing patient care are not dictated by just doing more procedures.
