I have a 3.8 GPA.
Research project in Reproductive Anatomy
1st MCAT: 38O (PS 13, VR 12, BS 13)
2nd MCAT: 34Q (PS 11, VR 11, BS 12)

Volunteered in two different hospitals
Volunteered in Honduras in an orphanage
lots of other volunteer experience and extracurriculars

Scholarships/awards: Governor General's bronze academic medal, a Large scholarship to my university, a scholarship for getting the highest mark in Calculus first year in university.

I've worked as a pharmacist assistant and during the school year as an R.A. in residence

I am applying to the Ontario med schools (I know I wont get into Queen's with my writing sample marks).

I think for Ontario schools, your numbers are definitely good enough to meet the cutoffs. I think even Queen's will forgive one section if the others are okay. It looks like you have all the EC bases covered too. You have as good a chance as anyone at UofT and UWO. McMaster/UOttawa may be tougher based on numbers alone. Definitely try and get in touch with Queen's, especially since you improved the WS so much.

I know this doesn't help at all, but why would you retake a 38? That's 99th percentile, I thought...are the Canadian schools that impossible to get into?

No...it has to do with the writing score cutoff for Canadians.

Thanks, my "Q" is good for all but one school (but hopefully they will make an exception). I deserved the O the first time, I didn't practice the essay at all and writing is definately my weak spot. I think I wrote 30 essays this summer, so I am glad that my mark improved!
