i'm pretty much set on osteopathic medicine-- but to be quite honest, the ONLY reason i would consider MD is if i were to be accepted to an instate school (for tuition purposes, which i think is a legitimate argument).. and for that reason, i feel as if i should at least apply to my state schools that are allopathic schools (UF, FSU, USF).. with that being said, is it really annoying to fill out both AACOMAS and AMCAS?

i hear a lot of people complaining about finishing 1 app, would i be killing myself to finish both? another thing, would DO schools question why i am applying to MD schools, and vice versa?

Yes, it is a pain to fill out both. But yes it is worth it. My first choice schools are osteopathic except for my two state allopathic schools due to locations and cost. But once you've got one filled out the second is easier and AMCAS is nicer and easier to fill out than AACOMAS.
Since this is my frist time applying I can't say from experience how much applying to both will matter, but from what I understand they will probably ask why and where you are applying, but they will understand that students take tution/costs into consideration when deciding where to to go. I know that NOVA asks for all the schools (allo and osteo) that you are applying to in their secondary, but like I said I don't know how much any of it actually factors into their desicions.

It's really not that bad at all. AACOMAS is basically a repitition of AMCAS, they only thing I had to do differently was edit my PS a little to reflect my interest in OMM.
I was asked in interviews if I had applied to both, but I answered honestly (and going for location/lower tuition IS a valid reason) and there wasn't really a problem with it. 🙂

Yeah, I agree. It's really not all that bad. The most tedious process is filling in your courses and grades. Everything else is pretty much just retyping your PS and work activities.

It took me several hours on a Sunday to complete my AACOMAS application, since I already had the AAMCAS one complete.

It's kind of like doing your taxes. It's not a big deal as long as you have all of your info with you before you start it is just a matter of time. I spent about 2 full days completing both just to get it over with.
