We honor veterans all the time as they should be. I was at the yankee game at the stadium, this weekend and they honor a vet by bringing out on the field while god bless America plays in between 7th innings of every home game as do other stadiums. Airlines honor military service everyday by letting them board first We honor vets every day in many ways which is good. I think we honor our vets appropriately. You don't see the kind of behavior and feelings towards vets that you see to gay community.

I rotated through the VA during medical school and had the nicest gay vet as a patient who unfortunately died of metastatic lung cancer. I think he fought in the Korean War. Probably with the draft there were a lot of gay men enlisted.

What happened to that kid in college is quite unfortunate but was also in the last century.
I agree that historically through the 20th century, both minorities and queer folk were marginalized. Completely wrong.

But this is the 21st century. You need to adjust to the reality of this modern century.

In 2024, A gay person and particularly a gay minority has a far far far better chance of being handed undeserved elite college acceptances, undeserved scholarships based solely on race or sex, and undeserved ultra competitive jobs compared to straight white or Asian person, particularly a straight white or Asian male.

Exceptions still exist, but on average it is far easier in 2024 in the United States to be a minority and/or queer than to be a straight white male.

So perhaps rational people might feel an entire black history month and an entire pride month is overkill in the 21st century compared to a single day, Memorial Day, that commemorates true Americans that fought and died for this country-

Middle school and high school are not great experiences for many different groups of people, but it is very very easy to be gay in college and beyond in america in this century.

It might not be easy to be transgender for the exact reason you mentioned.
I agree that transgender people are not mentally well, that's why they are crazy enough to somehow think that they are a sex opposite of what is imprinted on their chromosomes.

You're right, LGBTQ+ identity correlates significantly mental illness.
There also is a correlation with LGBTQ+ acceptance and all sorts of paraphilias becoming commonplace.

Good point and thats why I specifically excluded repressed gay men (who go into the priesthood to avoid coming out) as respectable in my post. Ever notice that anytime there is a gay sex scandal it’s almost always a white republican? It’s always the ones most vocal in fear mongering against the ‘lgbt agenda’ or who are (dare I say🙂) ‘curious’ as to what we are doing for pride month who end up being the biggest queens in the end.
