I know it is none of my business (or that of the hundred or so people that spend a majority of their day here on SDN), but I am wondering how everyone is planning to pay for their dental school education. Especially those who will be attending as out of state students. Is everyone but me doing the military route, or is there someone else out their that is planning on taking out the hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of loans. It is a daunting thought now that it is becoming more real. Just wondering what everyone is doing/thinking??

I am going to put my left kidney on craigslist. That should pay for first semester. I will worry about the rest later.

You have very expensive kidneys!!

Loans, loans, and more loans!!!

Good idea about the kidney though. You only need one. What about the appendix? Don't need that at all! Wonder if someone would pay for something so useless...

My rich uncle sam will loan me the money. Actually, I plan on getting my Mr. Degree while I am there and count on my sugar mamma.

I hope they take personal checks......😎

I know this doesn't sound like a serious question, and normally it wouldn't be, but on this occasion please humor me. Since we will be living on our own and will be making absolutely no income (we will technically be making negative income, thank you unsubsidized loans), would we be able to receive government aid (aka food stamps)? I'm not sure if I would actually go through with it, but considering the level of debt I am about to undertake it sure is tempting.

And to answer the original question, to pay for school I've been doing a few investments...I have this one thing going with the Nigerian Treasury, helping them move some money. If that pans out, I might be able to pay for all four years without loans.

i know some d-students that are on the dole so to speak, especially the ones with families, food stamps, assisted living, medicaid. We're gonna end up paying our own fair share of taxes in the future so why not. Besides, the programs are meant to be a temporary help so people can get onto their feet and off the programs

amen to that

We may sell one of our rental properties. It may not be the best financial move, but it would give me peace of mind to know the money is in the bank to pay for it.

Utah dad - where are you going to dental school? Ive thought about the military, i want to know more info about it. Are you are U of U or BYU or what? Im doing the summer sales thing this summer, help pay for at least one year of school.

Male Gigalo baby. Laugh, but if I can lose about 100 pounds, it just might work.

Make that 150.

You could never be a gigalo after all of those steroids :meanie:

as Pauly Shore once said...juice will make the jewels shrivel into sun-dried tomatos

Navy all the way!!! 👍 👍 👍 Its a win-win situation: no loans, monthly stipend, tons of experience after graduation, and a guaranteed job. Also there are fully funded opportunities to specialize after dental school...not to mention the cool uniforms. I visided a few of the Navy dental facilities in San Diego and they were top notch...I couldn't think of a place I would rather spend my day working or a better group of people to have for patients and colleagues !!!

True, I am like a raisin surrounded by fern down there. is there any way to "dejuice"?

Or you could always donate steroids ehhh I mean blood... I think the street value of whatever blood is left mixed in there with the pure steroids pumping around that guys body would be much higher...

I agree, but I'm going Air Force instead of Navy..both are awesome programs though. the experience, no debt, .... can't be beat. good luck to you man!

It seems like half of my class is on the dole. I know one kid who is getting around $700 a month in food stamps and assisted living.

Stafford Loans, and then Private Loans, and I have equity in my home right now (thank god) which will help with living expences when I move in a couple months..😱

I don't see anything wrong with foodstamps and medicaid while in school if you have a family. I don't know if you qualify if you are single. I guess I should look into that. 👍

My wife, three kids and I just got off of food stamps and medicaid. She graduated and is supporting me, she works in health care so we won't have to depend on the goverment for anything but loans, but we needed them when we both were in school . The way I see it I will be paying it all back and more in the future.

I'm most likely going navy too.

Thanks...good luck to you too!!! You are right...both are awesome programs, the army's is too. I can't wait, I'm almost as excited about being in the Navy as I am about going to Dental school.

PS. I'm not a man 🙂

That's great, I am doing something similar. A rich oil executive and his family died over there in a car wreck. Very sad, but guess what- they had my same last name! What are the odds? It's a good thing they were able to contact me through my email.

Yeh right...... What, just mail them your money and they'll send you a bunch
more?
Haha suckers!

...or maybe all they require is your checking/savings account number in order to transfer all this money over to you!? Let us know how it works out.

No, I'm pretty sure this is on the level. The email I got from them looked pretty official and was signed by some guy with Esquire after his name. All they needed was a bank account number, my social security number, date of birth, and mothers maiden name. I didn't even have to send them any money!

Who are you going to be selling with? I wanted to do that but I will be attending UoP which starts July 9th. My brother-in-law is a manager and he is making six digits in 3 1/2 months. Although not everyone will make that much I like to think that I would be good for at least 50 G's.

omg that steroid picture is real ?????? I thought it was a drawing at first !!!!

who is that guy... I'll like to do some google on him

Well, Why didn't you disclose that earlier! Hell, with Esquire... it's gotta be legit. Lucky dog you!😀 I wish it were me:idea:

Has anyone ever donated sperm? How much can you get for a cup?

I'm going to sell my micro-machines.

...and I would also like to know how much you can make per cup of sperm? Or is it per spermatazoa?

I plan on a life of crime, cat burgler by night, mild mannored dental student by day. No one will suspect anything. I think cracking safes and picking locks will help improve my manual dexterity, its a perfect plan.

Didn't you see the special on TV about the Nigerian scammers? I hope you didn't give them your SS#. Better go see if you have any money left in your account!
