So I'm a little worried that I won't get in this year... but part of me is beginning to accept that possibility. Is reapplying as bad as most of us think it is? Or is it not so painful the second time around?

The process is still the process, but you know a lot more about it, so i think it's easier. And, if you spent the year impoving your application then there's only reason to be more confidant. I improved mine and now am getting a lot more love than last year, see links below..... (but dont give up on this year yet, its still really early and SDN is generally the cream of the crop, so dont let it discourage you)

My first time was less-than-stellar, but it was a learning experience to say the least. I took the August MCAT and didn't turn in secondaries until November after the scores were released in October, so ALL of my apps were REALLY late, and I pretty much screwed myself out of an interview. This time around, I changed nothing except applying earlier (AACOMAS in by July and secondaries finished within a day of receiving them in August), and I have 2 interviews so far, one this Tuesday. I also applied to a greater number of schools. It's well worth it to eat Ramen for a while and not have to apply AGAIN. Overall, this second time feels easier because of the positive outcomes, obviously, but I think you'll find that having all of your LORS lined up and ready to go by June will make your life so much easier. Also, try and send out those secondaries within a day or two of getting them. Hope this helps!

I have to agree with mj. I also did August MCAT, my apps were also complete late, also no interviews. Did nothing but graduate college and turn everything in early (although my apps were held up by my pre-med LOR which wasn't sent out until August 19!!!!!!! ARGH! 😡). Aacomas and amcas were both in the first week possible, and secondaries were turned around in less than 3 days. I have average stats, and so far I have four interviews (3 DO and 1 MD). Early pays off BIG.

Out of curiosity, how did you improve your verbal and bio scores the second time around? Thanks a bunch.
