How bad is it to list schools on your AMCAS and then not complete secondaries on them

sorry i know this is a stupid question.......but what if i decide i don't really want to apply? Is it better to just list a bunch if i'm somewhat undecided?

it's really up to you, you can definitely decide later that you don't want to fill out the secondary, in which case you've wasted 30 bucks sending them a primary....so if you don't mind that, then you can apply now and decide not to fill out the secondary later.

yea but once you send itr, yoiu can't add a school, so isn't it better to waste the thirty bucks if you're unsure?

You can add schools even after submitting, you just can't change coursework/PS.

oh cool...but it woud be rather late????

what do you mean by coursework?

thanks

After an app is verified, you can only change your contact information and designated medical schools.

If it's late, it's late. Oh well. As long as its within the deadline, if you want to add a school, you can. You just deal with the fact that it's later. I added Case a few days ago because I realized how much I love the program; it's worth it to me to apply even though its later than my other apps. Personal decision. Stop worrying about the lateness.

I think most people apply to a few schools that they dont end up finishing secondaries for. I didn't send back three secondaries because of LOR requirements, and it's no big deal.

yep, just to echo what everyone else said, it costs you $30, and you can add schools later (it is not much of a hassle, but you might be a bit more behind in the secondary game then)

ah ok, thank you everyone 🙂

You might be burning bridges with them if you go to apply there next year for some reason. They look at your file and see "sent secondary, did not complete". That would irk me as an adcom, especially if the guy didn't get in anywhere and reapplied to my school the next year.
