how bad is it if you accidentally put the wrong name for a secondary? will they still evaluate me or will they throw away my application?

I accidentally put a T instead of a B...

I am working on like 7 different secondaries at the same time trying to get them in ASAP. How much slack do you think they will give us?

Minor typos are okay. It'll raise eyebrows depending on how bad the typo is though.

On the other hand, mistaking entire school names for another school name is an automatic rejection, haha.

i put TUSM instead of BUSM. how bad is that?
Okay, that is bad. I'm sorry. : (
That would be the equivalent of changing school names. That's Temple university and not Boston university. As the adcoms are human, they may not realize it. All I can hope is that if they do notice it, the other parts of the application may persuade them to ignore it.

Call them, explain, and apologize.

It is an unfortuneate mistake but I'm sure it happens frequently enough. Letting them known can't hurt.

ok, i guess i will have to call them. do you know of a case where someone did this?

I do not. Honestly putting the wrong school name is pretty egregious, but all you can do now is call them and hope its not too big of a deal.

I'd tend to disagree and would suggest asking @Goro, @LizzyM and @Catalystic for their suggestions first before you bring an error (which they might not notice) to their attention. It was one unfortunate letter.

I'd skewer you for it in interview, but wouldn't necessarily reject or wait list for it, unless you don't field the question well.

Sorry, but these are career-defining documents. The excuse of "I'm working on 7 of them at once" will likely lead to a wait list....that's excuse making. We expect you to be careful. Doctors kill patients with these types of errors.

That is extremely unfortunate. I made a spelling mistake on AMCAS, but I got interviews and accepted fine, but when it involves the name of the school and especially when you change it to another school's name, it's pretty bad since it is implied you just copied/pasted the secondary from one school to another.

Just chalk it up to bad luck and move on. Try calling them, but this can also have the negative effect of drawing attention to the mistake. Just learn from this and be more careful on your other secondaries.

Nothing good can come of calling them and pointing out this "zit". If you don't point it out they may 1) not notice and treat you kindly, 2) notice but decide you are a good chap just the same or 3) shun you. As Goro pointed out, physicians have to manage many things concurrently for the good of the patients and being busy with many things is an unacceptable excuse.
