I just took my first full practice DAT exam. I took it just to see where I stand. I have been studying for bio and a little bit of chem. I've only taken Ochem I.

Bio: 13 😡
Chem: 15 😕
Ochem: 10 😳
PAT: 15 🙁
RC: 16 😳
QR: 9 😱 🙁

I ran out of time with PAT and RC didn't even bother seeing the questions.....just randomly started putting down A, C, D etc etc. Depressed byond belief right now 🙁 Any one else here had similar scores when u started? Thanx

Don't be depressed. Work and study harder. Even if you have only taken Org Chem I you should be just fine! Review Kaplan - know them all - and you need to study harder for Bio and QR and will see the good results.

On the rest you can increase your scores by studying since this is your first practice test.

u got 2~3 times better score than i did.

i would say it depends on what dat practice test you took. like the ada one is pretty easy, and achiever would be on the hard side so depends =)

Is it really possible to take the DAT without having taken Organic II??

yea my friend actually took the dat and scored above 20 on the ochem section with only 3 weeks of ochem under her belt. many students at UOP undergrade int he 2+3 program have to do that becuase they apply before taking ochem. its crazy! just goes to show that the dat ochem section is all about studying, not really how well you did in the class or what not.

It's no that bad AT ALL!
I did around the same scores as U when I did my 1st prac. too.
But then after a month of pretty good studying, I ended up with AVG of 22 on my real DAT.
Study Hard, U R Good To Go.🙂

Not sure why anyone would want to sugarcoat this, because it'll really do you more harm than good. If those are your practice scores, then that's pretty horrible. You got 9, really?? Not saying it to be mean, but almost everyone I've spoken to who have gotten into dental school this year did not get anything lower than an 18, and they average at 20.

I scored 21 on my PAT, while my other catagory scores *cough* kinda dragged me down to an average of 18, and I still couldn't get in. 🙁 That's my sob story for now. I just gotta keep trying harder, as so should you.

Relax! It's just practice! The more you study, the higher your score will go. Keep at it!

I'm gonna have to agree with LeDynasty in that those scores are pretty low, which is fine since you have time to study, but keep in mind that you are going to need a LOT of work to get those up. I didn't know a 9 was even possible, and honestly my intent is not to be condescending or mean, but I just want to let you know that you have a lot of work ahead of you, and I want to motivate you to work hard and pimp smack the exam.

Best of luck to you, and if you need help with anything let me know

Many people take the full-length DAT diagnostic before they begin studying to see "where they stand." I didn't do that. I knew that I knew nothing. Taking the initial practice exam would have made me nervous and it would make me doubt my abilities. If I scored a 13AA initially, I would wonder if I could ever make it to a 22AA.

Just study hard. When you feel that you know something, then take practice exams to see where u need to improve.

Well, in ur case.... don't mind those scores. Just have a serious study regime and all should work out fine. I would avoid taking full-length exams until I feel that I've been serious with my studies.

i scored about what you did on my first practice. dont worry just study and they will rocket up.

Do u think that 5-6 weeks would be enough time to study for this exam?!
(10+ hrs a day?) Or am I pushin it?

Venus, keep working hard and youll do great. Those Kaplan tests are harder than the actual thing...just keep studying and you'll be totally prepared for the real thing.

Even the practice tests not from the book but what they give out to the public ?
