How bad it is it to cancel an audition rotation 2 weeks before it starts?

I am just worried about them complaining to my school..i previously wanted to puruse field A so i made an audition rotation in field A now i no longer want to pursue this field (as my first audition rotation made me realize) ..flying to this audition plus hotel fees etc would cost me nearly $2500, which i think is a complete waste of money considering im not longer insterested in that field..so how bad is it to cancel this audition 2 weeks bfor it starts?

I canceled one of mine (with more notice than two weeks) last year, and then did not receive an interview, even though my fellow classmates with similar scores all did................but since you don't care about that field anyway, then who cares. On the other hand, I matched at the place that I switched rotations for so............

Do not expect to get an interview at that hospital for any residency though.

not interested in that hospital for anything anyways..just worried that would they call my school and complain about me?

Can't you just talk to your school about it? That way you're being very upfront about everything, and I'm sure your school would want you to do some other form of rotation during that block so you're not just sitting around at home for 4 weeks. Maybe I'm lucky, but my school's pretty understanding and supportive when students realize a field isn't for them and need to make adjustments accordingly

They probably appreciate your foresight to not waste their time either. You're not the first nor will you be the last. Time to consider other avenues! Network, look at CME courses for certification and specialization, go to conferences, etc. Do what you need to find what you love!
