Hey, I'm just a little concerned. I was verified on Aug 17th, but it's the 21st now and I haven't heard a thing from the schools that typically send secondaries post-AMCAS verification. Is this normal? Or is something fishy going on?

I think you got screened out... sorry 🙁

No. Please don't jump to conclusions like this, especially due to the fact that few schools actually screen. And if this is a joke, it's not a funny one.

OP, it's been one business day since you've been verified. I'm sure you'll receive secondaries sometime this week.

What really? I didn't know so many schools did a pre-secondary screening 🙁 I thought it was just Wake Forest?

It took me like 3 weeks to get my first secondary after being verified, and I don't think my numbers would be screened that easily...then again I only applied to two out of state schools.

My time lapse between verification and receiving my first secondary was a little over 2 weeks. I don't know how the timing of verification to secondary receipt is working now, because I was verified in June, but most schools don't screen so I wouldn't get too overly worried. If you're really antsy to start working on essays, you can go to the essay prompt thread to find out what the prompts are. That way, when you do start receiving those secondaries, you can have a quick turnaround time.

Haha thanks. Actually, I have a bunch of them written and ready to send off - that's why I'm getting antsy about not receiving the secondaries - especially the Chicago schools!

I'm sorry, I was kidding. Getting screened out with 3.9/39 just isn't going to happen (except perhaps at Wake Forest) Just wait a few days and you should get your secondaries. I'm not sure about how the Canadian schools work, but NU takes awhile to send theirs and apparently sends them in batches as well.

Also, you can work on the Yale secondary w/o an invite, just go to their website, make an account, and go to town.

BTW, to the others, the reason it took up to 3 weeks for ppl who were verified in June to start getting secs is because AMCAS didn't make them available to med schools until 6/21.

I noticed that you applied to Brown, and so have I. FWIW, I was verified Aug 8th and I didn't get Brown's secondary until August 16th. I haven't submitted the secondary yet, their "best attribute" essay is harder than it should be, at least for me.

I was verified 7/2 and it still took 2 weeks to get secondaries.

I was verified 8/6. I started getting screened secondaries 10 days later. My first non-screened secondary came 7 days after verification.

I got about three secondaries right away. (I applied to 41 schools on my AMCAS). It was quiet for about a week and a half and then the floodgates opened and I would get about four a day. I know it's annoying, but be patient and it will happen. Plus, I work at a med school and a girl in my office was on the admissions committee of the M.D./Ph.D. last year. They did not have regularly scheduled meetings until September at least because most proffs go away during the summer. Don't trip. Before you know it, you will have more work than you'll want. Here's my two cents: go to the forum where people post secondary questions and start writing essays for schools you applied to. That way when the secondaries come, you can cut, paste and turn them in the same day. Best of luck!
