I know cardiologists are stepping on their toes a little bit these days and CT fellowship competitiveness has died down as a result, but what about categorical spots?
What were the median step scores like? This past year there were 115 applicants for 84 slots. So it's had a resurgence in competitiveness
What were the median step scores like?
I was looking at the specialty match data (general surgeons who do a thoracic surgery fellowship): http://www.nrmp.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Results-and-Data-SMS-2018.pdfWhat were the median step scores like?
So that makes it the least competitive surgical subspecialty, but only by a slight margin... aside from ob/gyn but who's countingAverage Step 1/2 scores of the 2016-2017 I-6 Intern class according to the AAMC were 241 and 246 respectively.

I know ortho, ENT, plastics, nsx... are all higher
Pretty sure uro and ophtho both have higher averages but they're so cryptic
Lol. How the hell did you come up with this?I'd bet money that the uro/ophtho averages are higher but their medians are lower.

Ophtho - 245
Ortho - 247
ENT - 249
Neurosurg - 249
Plastics - 250
Uro doesn't publish average Step 1.
https://sfmatch.org/PDFFilesDisplay/Ophthalmology_Residency_Stats_2018.pdfSpent alot of time with one of those departments and from what I've heard and talked to people about it seems very incestuous how people figure out what programs to go to. Of course there are the big number people, but it seems like they're largely geographically independent and just want to go to the best program. The rest of the "average" crowd goes to their home institution or 1/3 of their away programs.
Ophtho publishes their averages?
Where did you find this?Average Step 1/2 scores of the 2016-2017 I-6 Intern class according to the AAMC were 241 and 246 respectively.
