How deep do medical schools search an applicant personally?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
This is mostly true, but I heard some schools regard a little BDSM favorably. It can get you points for diversity and interesting life experiences.

"How much do you know about the medical field, Mr. Smith?"
"Only what I've learned in the bedroom."

Certain sexual acts are looked upon very favorably and can give you undeniable insight into medical procedures (colonoscopies and prostate exams come to mind).

They probably go in anywhere from 6 to 8 inches. Probably 9 inches or more a URM student rep for admissions is doing the search.

I know of people who who have had their acceptances rescinded based upon Facebook and SDN posts. Howvever, those were for "unprofessional" behavior. Posting about the plight of the masses or the need for the Reviolution won't get you into hot water.

But this is a good lesson that yes, Admissions personnel view social media sites. So just don't threaten anyone, make racist or grossly offensive comments, post naked selfies or you toking up or taking a big hit from a bong.
How can adcoms see FB if you haven't friended them and clicked on privacy levels where only friends can see your page/post? I hear of this happening, but how can it happen unless you give permission?

Adcom --> CIA connections --> bypass facebook security settings --> all your life's secrets are exposed and your admission is quickly revoked in favour of that god sent dweeb who's never made eye contact with the opposite sex aside from family members.

They can't see your facebook lulz. I don't know why people think they can. They'll probably have a hard time finding you on facebook unless you have a unique name.

Personally, all my ECs are verifiable with a google search (all the main ones). National level athletics/world records tends to do that with your name and google.

My rule of thumb for Facebook is: Only post what you wouldn't mind your mother seeing.

I can imagine pre-meds screwing themselves though in a way they may not have thought of though. If they hate their ECs and post about it on Facebook, I can see that sinking their applications if the ADCOMs see it. I used to check in all the time when I was volunteering at the hospital. I never wrote anything in the description beyond the fact that I was volunteering. I can imagine pre-meds writing: "Another volunteer shift. Ugh this blows! I can't wait to leave!"

Seems innocent enough, right? Well imagine how that will look when you're telling ADCOMs in your PS or at the interview how you absolutely loved every moment of that amazing experience.

Tread carefully, it's not just profanities, racism, drugs, sex, or other things that will raise an eyebrow. My suggestion is to suspend your account until you have an acctance in hand. I know people who changed their names, but now it has been mentioned that you can still be tracked that way.

Clueless people tend to forget that unless you click those privacy features, everyone on Earth gets to see them. I THINK google image searchs sometimes can hit on a pic even with those security features. Try one on yourself or your friends to see if that's true, just in case.

The organist at my wife's church got fired for doing exactly that!

Deep...... real deep.

How deep do medical schools go with respect to looking at your Facebook, the type of things you post, etc.

I had some pretty stupid days in my past. Like really stupid. I just turned 20 last month, too, and I still think I'm going to laugh at my 20 year old self when I'm 24. Anywho, this was garbage I posted probably on some random FB group like a news source, etc. or some random media page. At the end of the day, I was an idiot.

You know that phase that some people are young have when they think they're a revolutionary thinker or people give a digestive excrement about their philosophy? Yeah, being good academically didn't stop me from being that stupid socially.

I was going to deactivate all social media/digital content that displays personal information and stay idle on the internet in every way possible from the day I apply to medical school until I got the acceptance letter and accepted the school I want at the end of it all.

What do you guys/gals think?

Edit: What I said wasn't super stupid or something that was morally wrong (taking morality to be the day to day US layman set of guidelines. It just looks weird and embarrassing. I'm finding ways to delete my e-trail or mitigate it). I'm just hoping any displayed maturity I have in ECs, LORs, research, and interview composure would establish my maturity as a candidate.
After my interview, I arrived home to find non other than a adcom member sifting through my closet. What an awkward day that was!
