How detrimental is it to not include information on my parents in Primary app?

In the primary app, there is an optional section dedicated to the information regarding my parents.

I don't want to reveal any info about them and I choose to skip it

No it is not.

For the most part they would like the see if you have had any background in medicine if your parents were in the field as well.

You do not need to put it on if you do not want to, leave it out if you wish.
