How did you have time to make your grids for hole punching if we can't write during tutorial period?

Basically what the title says. I just called the prometrics center where I will be taking my test, and they said that we are not allowed to write anything down until the test starts.

That's kind of freaking me out because I need to make sure I can draw fifteen 4x4 grids to prepare for the hole punching section since the markers don't erase.

Any tips?

I was in the same situation. Fortunately, the laminated sheets were already gridded so it didn't take much time to make 4x4 squares! I skipped straight to the hole punching questions because that was my strongest section & quickly made my squares.

Everyone writes during that time, not sure why your center said that. write down formulas, grids, etc during that 10 minute period.

It depends on your test center if you can write during the tutorial or not. Even if you can't, it's not too big of a deal, the paper is already gridded as @qkrdpsk said, so it takes ~30 seconds to draw some squares. You can do it at the end of the science section if you have a minute left.

It doesn't take more than 60 seconds to make those grids and the tables for Cube Counting.

I finished my science section in 60 minutes, reviewed the questions in the next 20, made my grids/CC tables, and then just rested my eyes for a few mins before the PAT.

You'll have plenty of time.

Thanks for the response! I also have a quick question for you if you have a second about bootcamp. I know you guys just redid all the QR tests and I just finished taking my first full length test with everything (4.25 hours). I've been using math destroyer and not bootcamp for practicing math so I can't compare my score to the previous bootcamp tests.

That being said, I scored in the 93rd percentile for QR, but that only gave me a 21. The comment also says "You're ready to conquer the QR section of the DAT," but I was hoping to do a lot better than a 21 on that section as I feel it's my strongest area. How reflective is this score and percentile of what I could actually hope for when I take the real DAT since I thought missing only five questions would put me at least somewhere around a 23?

Thanks!

Yeah I just took my first full length practice test. Wasn't aware how much left over time I'd have after finishing the sciences. Thanks!

There you go. People hype up these little things about the DAT waaaaaaaaay too much. Don't let it get to you.

Also, just a pro-tip: in the exam, they will tell you to raise your hand if you need to have your note boards exchanged. I would raise my hand and my proctor would be busy talking to his co-proctor or doing other office work, and meanwhile I would be losing the time needed for the section. Don't be afraid to get up, go to their desk and get it exchanged there.

Thanks for the advice! I'll definitely make sure I I'm in control and have what I need haha
