I did some searches on this forum and the APA website but couldn't find anything.

How did you decide where to apply for your Psy.D.? Did you have your own set of criteria and then call all 50+ schools with your questions? 🙂 I can't figure out, now that I know to avoid the professional schools, how to determine the reputation of the various Psy.D. programs.

Some criteria I'm coming up with are:

# of applicants vs. # of offers vs. class size
attrition
match stats for APA/APPIC internships
reputation for research?

Are there more criteria everyone should consider?

Thanks in advance!

How do you determine what kind of/how much funding a program gets?

Most schools report on their websites how many students receive financial aid or tuition waivers. This information is also available in the Insider's Guide.

If a school doesn't report this, you could also e-mail the graduate secretary and ask. Most Psy.D. programs do not fund their students, but there are a few that fund all their students pretty consistently (e.g., Rutger's and Baylor, I think?), and these are usually top programs.

PLEASE do a search before posting....as this has been covered before. I know it can be hard sometimes to find stuff, but I try and keep stuff grouped together so people looking for topics can find them more easily.

HERE is a good thread.

HERE is a thread on the research @ Rankings.

My very first sentence was "I did some searches on this forum and the APA website but couldn't find anything."

I searched for "rank" and "ranking." Apparently the relevant information would have been found if I had searched for "rankings."

My apologies, and thank you for the links.

Does anyone have any information on Counseling Psychology rankings?
