How did you meet your SO?

I don't have any magical tale of college classes or anything like that. We met through eHarmony.

I was always afraid of the stigma of online dating so I was very apprehensive at first. I was with my first boyfriend all through college and then we broke up after Graduation. I met the next guy at a bar, I got lucky he was not a douche. However, after him I was over the bar scene and I was no longer in a situation where it was easy to meet people. I was working a lot and still living at home cause I was dead broke. So, I decided to try eHarmony. Online dating does is not horrible, just have to be careful. It is hard to meet people when you are in that age range of no longer in college and everyone being married.

After several duds, I met him. He lived an hour away, so I decided to met him halfway for dinner. We clicked and here we are 6 years later. We are not a perfect match, but I am okay with that. I too want to trade him for a couple of dogs sometimes 😛

Long story short:

Jan '07 - My friends tried to set me up with a fraternity brother of both of their boyfriends so we went over to the fraternity and watched Forrest Gump. Cute guy's roommate (my SO) impressed me with his ability to say the lines, leave the room for 2 minutes to fill up a water bottle, and come back into the room on the right line.

Feb '07 - Cute guy took me to the fraternity's formal, and ignored me the entire time, so I stopped going to the fraternity.

Nov '07 - My SO asked my friends at a party where I was, and my friends came giggling back to our hall, showing me his facebook.

Jan '08 - One of my friends, my SO and I had cell bio together.

Feb '08 - SO asked me out on FOUR separate occasions before I finally had a free weekend.

Mar '08 - SO took me to No Country for Old Men. Great first date movie.... But now we're happily married, so it can't have been too bad, right?

My story has high school drama also. I was 16 going on 17 (lol), and my best friend at the time met my SO in one of her classes. Side note: it was rock climbing so she told me she knew he had a nice butt (she was right!) 🙂 She went to a different high school than I did, so I had never met him. She decided to hook us up so that he and I could go to homecoming that month. We met at a powder puff football game at his high school, and I thought he was super cute! We were both with friends and decided to go get Goodtimes after the game. ENTER DRAMA: at the end of the night my friend drove me home and we were talking about how awesome he was, she then asks if she should break up with her boyfriend and go out with him. I told her to do what ever she wanted, but the very next day my SO called and asked me to homecoming. We have been together ever since (almost 8 years next October), and like a lot of you guys I missed out on a lot of dating, but I am happy with him so it was worth it!

Interesting Facts:
1.) Our parents only live about a block apart, but the street between us is the dividing line for high schools, hence why we didn't go to the same school.

2.) I had met his mom the summer before I met him when I worked at a kids camp at my humane society. She trains her dogs for search and rescue and did a demo for the kids.

Happily, happily single. I LOVE coming home, tired, late at night, and being blissfully alone. 😍

With my two kitty cats.

I am "of a certain age" and way-hay-hay past the point of giving a crap about finding that Special Someone. I'm just excited about school and my future achievements. 😀

Nothing wrong with that.

I just imagine meeting someone and saying, "Hello, my name is Jessica and I'm going to have $300,000 of school debt." That might send some guys running to the hills.

Totally going to use this any time I want a guy to leave me alone from now on.
