Ok, so I took the GRE and submitted my scores to my six schools. I called two of them and they told me something along the lines of "Oh we don't deal with that, we wait for PTCAS" or something. But I never sent my scores to PTCAS-- so how would they have my scores!?

Or is a school's GRE code means it goes through PTCAS before it gets to them? I don't get how a school knows what your GRE scores if they don't want you to submit official scores. Couldn't I just lie about my scores? Northern Arizona, for example, requires the GRE but does not require you to submit scores directly to them. Then does that mean they just go off what I report to PTCAS?

Thanks

Are you applying this cycle? You have to send your scores to the schools PTCAS GRE codes, and then they are sent to the school along with the rest of your application. You are able to check the status of your GRE scores on the PTCAS website. Some schools require that the scores are sent directly to them instead, but most have a PTCAS code.

Visit this website: http://www.ptcas.org/ptcas/public/gre.aspx?navID=10737426788

There you can see the categories for GRE scores. The ones that say PTCAS GRE code for the school means that the scores go to PTCAS which then is included to you application and only that school (the specific GRE code for PTCAS for that school) can see it. Other schools make you send them directly to their program. From what I have seen if the GRE code starts with a 7 then it probably goes to PTCAS first. Hope this helps!

Thanks guys-- now it makes sense.

However, new question--

I checked my PTCAS account, and one of the schools I am applying to is NOT listed in red-- so it seems they didn't get my scores? Is this something I should contact ETS about or the school? My other 5 schools are on there. I checked my ETS account and it says they sent them...

Is the one that's not listed one that doesn't have a PTCAS GRE code? If that's the case they may have been sent to the school directly and you should check with the school. If not, I guess I'd check with ETS...
