How do I evaluate the number of hours for past activities?

For example, I have been a camp counselor a few different times. How do I estimate how many hours that I did? Do I include all time that I spent with the kids (pretty much all day) or only times when we were actually doing camp activities?

I'd count the hours you were with the campers and conscious and responsible for them (e.g. not when you were sleeping or showering, etc).
