Every file I try to open, like my word document that I type notes into, shows up behind uworld. I like to take notes about my mistakes when reviewing uworld but with the way my screen is set up, I can't get the review page to move to the side so that I can see both uworld and microsoft word at the same time. Any suggestions?

You're not supposed to take notes from U World cause they're afraid you'll steal their questions. The only good way is to have two computers or to hand write them.

I have a mac! Is there a way to do this?

No I'm not copying any questions down obviously - just little notes here and there about concepts that I'm getting wrong so that I can review before the exam.

I found a way on a mac.. on the dock (at the bottom where all the icons are), while you have the UW application open, right click on it and it will bring up a small menu (e.g. keep in dock, quit, etc.) and select "hide." When you want it to come back, just click on the icon in the dock again. Hope this helps.

When I used it on a mac, I could manipulate the window all I wanted, but there were certain apps I couldn't open (grab, eg). However, that was a year ago so maybe they've upped the security.

But the biggest work-around that I know some people did would be to run windows simultaneously through parallels or VMware and run USMLE world through that - then you could use whatever native mac apps you wanted and move the windows around all you wanted.

you can enable "spaces" on mac and have one space have uworld and the other have word open.... or you could use Command + Tab key to shuffle between word and uworld.

I use a 2nd monitor for my laptop. Uworld just blocks up one of the screens and the other still works fine.

I've been using it to watch Arrested Development on Hulu.com while doing questions. But your idea sound more productive.

Maybe VMware works? Not sure if USMLE world works on linux but if it does you could get a premade linux machine and run it in vmware player for free. Otherwise you'd have to get the full vmware version and install windows to see.

I use a mac also and was having a similar problem. I downloaded the version for the OS V 10.3 or whatever was the older one and now I am able to switch between screens without any problem

1) firmly grasp the sides of your monitor with your hands

2) move the monitor to either side

I was wondering how to make it fit within a normal window too. I want to browse the internet to look stuff up when I'm doing questions.

I use dual screen (2 monitors), works fine
