How do I improve my VR?

Hi everyone,

I've been at this verbal for about 3 weeks now and just am not sure how I can really improve.

I'm learning my strategies and techniques from the EK verbal reasoning book and I'm doing the EK 101 passages. It seems like no matter what strategy I attempt (answering questions based on the main idea, eliminating weird answers, answering based on how the author would answer it, etc, etc) I just keep getting 6's. How do you all go about this section???

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
