I am taking it this month. I'm most likely going to release it to all the programs as I don't expect to do badly, but just in case, how do I withhold it from programs? I already applied with my USMLE transcript sent and all that.

So when I had to release them, you have to go back to the USMLE transcript box under Documents. There's a red box on the right that says "Retransmit instructions". You have to manually do that to send new scores, otherwise they don't go out.

Back when I applied, this was partially true, but there was also a box you could select that would automatically retransmit anytime a new score came in. You had to make sure to de-select that option if you wanted to withhold your scores. I don't know if that's changed since its been a while for me.

Hmm. I don't see that anywhere. Can someone respond to that?

I am also planning on delaying sending my Step 2 score in (depending on the result, I take it later this month). In ERAS under documents it states that "your action is required" in order to retransmit, so I think the option southernIM was referring to has been removed.

They got rid of that box ~2 years ago.

No. It cannot be automatically sent now. Manual only.
I'm guessing it's due to people getting their Step 2 score back and they realized it was lower than their Step 1 score, and thus regretting checking off the box to automatically retransmit.
