Reapplying this year. Had interviews last year shockingly (interview invites before the academic update ) and before a retake of my DAT last week. I am planning on applying the first day, which is June 4th. Have 4 letters of Recs (dentist, biochem teacher, endocrinology professor and a LOR from one of my volunteering organizations) already saved on interfolio. Last year I also didn't turn in my application until end of August. My PS is already done and edited very well I believe.

Last year here were my stats when I applied (before academic update)
G.P.A 3.20 (3.33 after update)
SGPA 3.11 (3.25 after update)
BCP. 3.11 (3.28 after update)

DAT scores now (last year my results were horrible with 2 scores at a 16 so I knew I had retake)
Bio-19 was a 16 last year
Gen Chem 21 same as last year
O Chem 20 was an 18 last year
QR 20 was an 18 last year
PAT 19 was a 16 last year
RC 22 was a 22 as well last year

Was a bit easier to study this year since I had a lot of my notes from last year, and also picked up destroyer, which helped my Bio and O chem. I didnt look at those 2 enough last year since I "thought" i knew enough. Studied for about 6.5 weeks with about 6-8 hour days usually and taking a day off here and there. Didn't study for RC and G chem i just quickly reviewed my notes from chad. I think since I knew i was good on those section helped me relax once in awhile to let my brain rest.

GPA NOW
GPA 3.4
SGPA-3.34
BCP---> 3.37

Volunteering hours I have 300+ at a dental office, thousands of hours of working full time while in work, 200 hours at hospital, and 800 in other volunteer hours

GPA in my last 73 semester units is a 3.63. In that 73 unit span my BCP GPA is 3.59 consisting of 48 units of BCP classes.

After applying last year I took 43 units since the application process started in June of last year and received a 3.83 while 28 of those classes were BCP classes and I received a 3.88 (classes included anatomy, o chem 2 lab, animal behavior, biochem, reproductive physio, another chem lab, cell bio, behavioral endocrinology, human sexuality class, a masters level bio class on reproductive technologies)

Obviously I started off really really really bad and finally got my act together. I was wondering how my stats look and if I maybe needed to retake my DAT.

Also would be recent trend be taken into account and how much might that help me?

Looks okay. How many schools are you applying to? Any state school or regional preference? You had a pretty productive year, which is good. You're hanging in there with the GPAs. You've done pretty good trying to get them up. I think good performance is looked at and considered. I don't think you need to take the DAT again. Getting in early and broadly with these improvements ought to make this your cycle.

I'm applying to roughly about 20 schools. Especially OOS friendly schools. I'm from California so the major state schools are UCLA and UCSF, which doesn't help me in the slightest.

Schools I'm applying to:
NYU
ASDOH
USC
Western
UOP
Midwestern-AZ
Midwestern-IL
Roseman
Temple
Pitt
Detroit Mercy
Michigan
Kentucky
Creighton
Louisville
Lecom
The new ATSU school in Missouri
Tufts
Boston
Case
Maryland
Any schools I should take off or add?

Just fyi, I emailed ADA about ATSU in Missouri and they told me that it will not be an accredited school until July, therefore you will have to pay $30 to have your DAT scores sent there. I dont know if that only matters if you havent taken the test yet, b/c I'm registered for june 7th. So maybe thats useful info for you. Good luck!

oh okay, thanks for that info. Anyone else know about the situation or a take on my chances

To me, your DAT looks really solid, and your GPA came up a good bit. I think you have a really good chance, personally. Especially pulling your GPA up like that... I'd say that is a good upward trend that shows some determination. I think you should be fine to get a good number of interviews applying to that many schools.

Best of luck to you!

Kentucky isn't exactly OSS friendly for someone in cali. Not sure why you want to apply there.

if you dont mind.. how many interviews did u receive last cycle?

2, but I think it's because of my volunteering, working full time, and 4 great LOR's

Also, I did email those two schools specifically with my summer grades, so that might have helped and I stayed in constant contact with them.

Why do you ask?

Is Kentucky really OOS unfriendly? Also does anyone else have any recommendations of what schools to add or possibly take out?

Take off schools in red.

Mind if I ask why I should take those schools off? ASDOH fits me very well because of my volunteering and other reasons

Yeah and I especially love their module system

There's a lot to love about it. You seem to know what it's all about and know you might be a fit. I think too many people apply just based on low averages.
