How do the schools treat scores on your DAT retakes? Do they take the highest of the 3 (PAT, AA, TS) or your most recent scores or recalculate based on some formula?

So if for example you get a 19AA, 21TS and a 17PAT could you just restudy, focusing on the PAT and forget the other sections?

depends on the school... some average all of them out... while others only look at the latest retake... and some like to look at all of your retakes.

it really depends on the school.

they like to see if you are well rounded individual not just sitting in their room reading their books. you do well on dat, good now you have volunteer, thats good, wow you have a job too with research as well, damn your solid. so overall message, dat = 1/4 of your application

It depends on the number of retakes and the school. For most schools, applicants with more than 3 tries aren't the best candidates for dental school.
Generally, what they're looking for is improvement in all sections.
So, the worst strategy for retaking the exam is the one you mentioned: Improving one section and ignoring the others.
Do that and I will guarantee your score for the sections you've taken lightly will plummet!
