how do waitlists work?

Lets say I get a phone call offering me an acceptance from the waitlist.

Do I have to answer right on the spot?

Once I accept, does that mean I cant take a better waitlist later?

If you are accepted off the waitlist, the acceptance should be treated like any other. Until May 15, they have to give you 2 weeks to decide, but after that they can make it shorter. If you get off another waitlist, you can just withdraw the other acceptance.
