1) Do I simply contact a recruiter for either of the branches I'm interested in?

2) If I am applying this cycle, when should I get started on that?

3) How long is the process?

4) I know that technically they can't accept you until you have been accepted to dental school but by when should you have the whole HPSP application complete? And once it is complete, do you just wait until you get accepted to dental school and then they look at it?

Thanks!

Yessir.

Right Now. I'm applying next cycle and I've already started lining up things with my recruiter....getting my records together, etc.

3) How long is the process?

Months, from what my recruiter has told me. A lot of it depends on how quickly you can get your security clearance, all the paperwork, etc. done. My recruiter told me that once I submit the app. it can take 2-3 weeks to get to the board.

I believe this is correct.

Thanks!

Which branches are you interested in?

For the Army you can be conditionally accepted for the scholarship pending acceptance into dental school.

For the Air Force, the selection board is sometime around March, so chances are you should've got into a school by then.

What to do when Navy recruiter not responding to any messages? 3 e-mails and 1 voicemail down...............

contact another one, you should find a recruiter that is very spontaneous and want to get everything together for you.

Personally, I dropped my Navy recruiter and switch to Army branch. My Navy recruiter seems very slow and does not know her facts straight. She is inconsistent in what she says.

the branch difference does not really matter to me but the Army Branch promises me they will submit my app on October if I get all the paperwork to them now (october is the first board for the 2015-2016 fiscal year that grants scholarship for fall 2016 matriculates)

Do you need to work with a recruiter in your home state or doesn't it matter? I looked up recruiters in my area and the closest one is 3 hours away. There is a recruiter closer to my out of state college though.
