Okay I am all about time management but....besides that...how do you find time to do scholarships and internships and wedding planning and email checking when you have BOTANY to look at and PHYSICS to look at and O CHEM to look at...I want to kill +pissed+ Any advice? besides time management 🙂

you should have tried to space your courses a little more if you could have.

i'm taking organic out of sequence as a second-semester freshman so i don't have to deal with advanced mol & cell bio with lab with organic with lab my fall semester as a sophomore.

i understand med school isn't going to be like this, but still... i like light course loads for helping my GPA.

Hmm. Sounds like you need to work on your time management skills. Or you can dump your fiance.

It helps me to make lists. For instance, i'll make a list like this:

- review orgo, chapter 1
- review orgo, chapter 2
- review orgo, chapter 3
- laundry
- finish scholarship app
- dinner w/ bf
- soccer practice
- complete calc. problem set
- call lab advisor

... etc.

By splitting the list up into many small things, you feel like you're getting stuff done as you go along, so it helps keep you going.

Making time schedules of when you're going to do things works too.

Good luck! Hang in there!

Yeah, I love to make these lists too. They work really well for me when I've already got momentum. They just mock me when I'm trying to get started though. How do you guys get yourself to *start* studying?

Huge fan of lists here! Couldn't live without my planner.

Prioritize, and learn to study efficiently. Figure out what's most important (from talking to other students, talking to TA's or professors, etc.) and learn that. That way you don't waste time learning stuff that's not important (I know people who get totally caught up in details that don't matter and miss the forest for the trees). Also, studying in groups CAN make your studying time more efficient, but only if it's a good group (everyone has a more or less equal handle on the material and contributes--otherwise it's a waste of time). Also, you just have to prioritize in every area of your life...figure out what's most important to you and what absolutely HAS to get done, and what doesn't, because you're not always going to be able to do everything. Believe me, it can be done. I'm a first year in med school and getting married this summer, and people ask me about how I have time to be in med school and plan a wedding at the same time. Simple. I prioritize and don't try to do everything perfectly. What's most important gets done. I'm going to pass my first year and I'm going to get married, and that's what matters. If every last detail of the wedding isn't perfect like in Martha Stewart Weddings and if I don't make AOA, I can live with that. I think the important point is to go a little easier on yourself and be clear on what's important and what isn't.

For me, only two things are necessary:

1) A Bitchen Palm Pilot with an organizer/scheduler/todolist thingy...

and...

2) Motivation (which I wish I had some of... damn)

Thankyou soooo much....I think this is just going to be a semester with just a little less sleep 🙂....Yeah I have been trying to do the group thing but really hard when in community college to get the motivated people 🙂 Sometimes I feel like Legally Blonde 🙂)) So spunky maybe too much for these people heheheh....Thanks again for the support..

BTW: my second day of volunteering was great, sad but great, got to see a tubular pregnancy on Ultrasound 🙂
