I've tried searching some threads but couldn't really find anything about this subject. How do you go about finding a roommate for med school? I lived in the dorms my freshman and sophomore years of college so I never chose my roommate then for the other years, my parents bought a house for my siblings and I so we all lived together. Thus, I never really had to go about finding roommates. If i went to school in my state, I know I will room with undergrad friends but I'm most likely moving to a new state.
I'm a smoker (outside only) and I go out 2-3 times a week. I'd like to find someone the same. I know the 2-3 times a week won't happen every week, but my sister is an M3 at Yale right now, and she partied plenty and still goes out often as an M3. I mean, I know some schools have a list of students needing housing, but how do you go about looking specifically for a smoker (I'm fine with non-smokers, but i know its not vice-versa all the time) and not someone who never goes out (the thread "how many times do you party?" fueled this thread... some people said 0-1 times a month, and I can't see myself doing that or living with someone who does that).
I know it seems like I'm focusing only on the social aspect, but really, I think its just as important. I don't wanna be miserable for a year with someone who will judge me or that I will havta be quiet at midnight on a Friday night. Is it just luck or is there a way I can actually find people like that?
I know not everyone goes out. I don't like watching movies, playing video games, "hanging out" (whatever that means), or anything of that sort. I like grabbing a few people and going out to bar for beers, good conversation in the beginning, drunk conversations at the end, eating greasy food at 4am, etc. Shallow or not, thats just who I am.
