I hear lots of people talking about their research and blah blah. We all know adcoms like it and it is a lot of help in getting into MD/PhD programs. I'm an junior in electrical engineering and I'm planning on going to med school (assuming I can get my grades up a little to get in). As far as I know, there isn't any research going on at my school in chem/bio areas..It's a smaller school ~9k ppl and I would love to do some research. Question is, how do I get into it?? Thanks

Go look around of professer's websites and talk to them after lectures and see if they may have anything going on. Go to office hours so they get to know you and tell em you are interested in doing stuff in thier lab.

There are also summer internships to which u can apply to, they run over the summer course and u usually get a stripend and sometimes housing and stuff.

Pm me if you want more info

I wanted to do medical research in college, but because I went to a small liberal arts school, I couldn't find projects there that interested me...so I wrote letters to researchers at academic medical centers near my hometown, telling them I was interested in doing some summer lab work and was planning on applying to medical school. Many researchers are looking for a little extra help once in a while and will take you up on your offer. Some will offer to pay you, some won't. I spent my first summer picking things off petri dishes, but worked up to doing stem cell work for Parkinson's disease. You may spend some time being a scutmonkey but things eventually take off!
