Anyone have tips on how to get through lectures that are so dry and boring it feels like your soul is crashing into the abyss? I feel like every other lecture feels this way and wondering how you guys cope.

Doodle, take notes in cursive, count the number of times they say Unhhh or whatever their verbal tic is, stream it at double speed while playing angry birds

Elastic band around the wrist. Pull it back every few minutes and/or when you start to nod off/lose attention. Your body will start getting your mind on board!

Earbuds and listen to other lectures that will be more helpful/interesting, or anything else to pass the time.

If lecture attendance is NOT required, don't go. You're an adult learner and can figure out your own best way to learn.

If I'm a captive at a boring meeting, I make lists of things. Places I've visited; people I've; things I have on a particular to do list (especially research); even lists of the elements in various permutations...for example, those named after persons or places.

Double speed. If it's fast enough, you have to pay attention or else you wind up having to re-do the lecture. Also, don't ever go to lecture. You can be way more efficient if you do double speed.

hopefully you don't go to one of those schools where minutiae that the professor says ends up being on the exam. if thats not you, then just stay home and study on your own. I did this and it made my preclinical experience so much better. I learned the material better than most of my peers bc I spent my time well rather than wasting it in a lecture where I otherwise would've spaced out. I also got to do other things I enjoyed and had a much more relaxing experience.

(Seriously though we have a ton of mandatory stuff so that’s an accurate representation of how I feel when all my time is wasted)
