How do you guys retain material?

All information is transient. The stuff you use everyday stays the rest decays.
I have undoubtedly forgotten a bunch of step related stuff already and it has only been 6 months.

1) By either talking or thinking about that particular info.

2) Id say that some of the user-friendly pneumonics do stick in the memory.

Hope this helps

Repetition and questions.
Pimping study mates (or getting assigned a topic to teach to your study group to force you to know it really well).

All you have to do is forget it one less time than you learn it... simple😉

If you're really curious about how to retain learning material, I suggest reading the book 'Make It Stick' by Peter Brown. It covers all the science on how to retain information, as well as study tips. It's broken down well by chapter, so you can read the ones most pertinent/helpful to you.

Going to be honest, I hit flush after each exam.

That being said, so much of it comes up over and over again that, after a while, it clogs the toilet (so to speak) - it gets retained, rather than flushed away.
