How do you "internally" know when you have complete content review?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Is there a gut feeling you get?

Does a solid Content Review show if you nail your first FL??

I don't think I ever felt like I had everything down perfectly, but I reached a point where I just didn't think reading was helping as much as doing practice passages. From that point on, I only read things I bombed on my practice exams.

Well so far, I have slowly read through the entire TPRH biological & physical. I have also been working on my verbal skills and doing independent questions to further secure my knowledge base. I was planning to leave 40 days for pure FLs so I can complete approx. 20 FL practice exams. However, I feel like time is getting tight and I won't have the time to do everything I wanted.

In other words, I think I will be skipping the non-passage based Q's in EK. At this rate, I'll have time for the passages in my TPRH & passages in EK. Then proceed to FL's.

Your daily practice problems and, later on, FLs should be a good measure. Keep in mind that you want consistently good scores.

Doing my ind. problems...I am not consistently getting everything right. However, after looking at the solution, I immediately realize what I did and everything sort of "comes to me". Is this normal?

when you know you know. but realistically, 90% of individuals (educated guesstimate) are not going to be 100% on all the content. get to where you're satisfied. if you don't have a moment in a practice where you're like "what is this" then you're set.

Agree with bleargh. There were a couple things I was never great on (e.g. rotational motion), but I understood it to a fair extent and hoped for the best. You should definitely be very comfortable with the vast majority of the material though.

I'd say it 99%. If you're 100% on all the content you should be getting at least 27-28/30 in the sciences consistently (and a ~38 overall if you can read critically)

And yes, you'll know if/when the time comes. It's hard to be 100% on everything, but if you 100% on 90% of the topics and 90% on the next 10 that's effectively the same thing.

I agree wholeheartedly. My only caveat is that you won't get to the 27-28 in science without practice. It is through practice tests and sectionals that you get tested which gives you A TRUE CONCEPTUAL KNOWLEDGE OF THE TOPICS. For most people, you DON'T READ YOUR WAY TO CONTENT REVIEW. Reading will get you to 90% comprehension. What gets you to Wanderer's 100% of 90% of the material are tests. So start taking tests and sectionals from here on out and reviewing on off days while still doing one sectional on your off day. Don't neglect verbal.... or you'll get a 9 like me.

Thanks for the replies. I am definitely feeling like I know everything at least moderately well. Of course I have strenghts & weaknesses (genetics), but I haven't had a "what the hell is this"? moment since the beginning. When I encounter a concept that I didn't remember, I simple look through the solution and realize that I totally understood it.

I will take the advice to begin testing myself with a more full-on MCAT style and learning how to answer MCAT style questions...while also filling in concept gaps on the way.

Well put! That is exactly it.

Hey good post. With the volume of information you're (we're) expected to understand thoroughly, it's hard to really feel confident in moving forward and accepting that somewhere in that head of yours, you'll figure it out. But I think this is where confidence and practice comes into play. That's why I am really interested in the EK 1001 Series. When I am done with my review, I plan to hack away at those questions until the concepts are pounded into my head. Than I will move forward to practice passages than to FL's. I have about 1.5 months left of content review (which I then plan to do another mini content review with EK because they are brief). Test isn't until April or March. Minimal class units = a lot of time dedicated to owning this beast. Best of luck to you.
