Long story short, I was a corpsman (essentially a battlefield medic, and then I had additional advanced training as well) in the military and this means that day in and day out I was with my patients. Not only that but when stationed at hospitals I worked with full health-care teams, MDs included. Often times I would be invited on rounds with some of the teams as well.
How would I quantify this experience other than saying 6 years of clinical experience? Does it have to be in hours logged? Without regard to my post-military shadowing is there a way to quantify my experience working with doctors?

I would list this activity under "Employment-Military" putting in hours that show averages over the years and total years for the enlistment. Then in the descriptive portion carve out the time that you did healthcare related stuff, giving your separate estimate of time/years involved in that activity (no one expects great precision). Be sure to get very specific, but succinct about what your patient contact entailed (bullet format is fine). It could also specifically state shadowing time here if you did that aside from your required duties. Or if you have other nonmilitary shadowing time, list both together under "Other."

Thanks...seems like it will be pretty clear when it comes time to fill out the form...
