Burning out... Any one else out there feeling this way? How do you pull yourself out of the numbness? I'm trying to find a way to re-energize myself. But with all this beautiful weather, the heat, MCAT studying, and mountains of tiny details to be tended to... well, it's hard to stay focused and excited.

I happened to be in the area today so I went to the UW med school, walked the halls, went to the bookstore... flipped through some histology, biochem, anatomy books... and that really seemed to help me... it's so exciting to put yourself in that environment and think that, if you work hard enough, you can be a part of it all!

What do you guys do to dig yourself out of a "blah" phase?

Playing basketball and/or lifting weights usually helps me out whenever I'm feeling bored and overworked... go enjoy the beautiful weather outside for an hour or two!

Funny that you mention UW, i'm flying up to Seattle to visit my brother for a quick, but much needed, vacation.

I experienced the same thing while studying for the MCAT. I basically took a 5 day vacation from everything that had to do with academics and just visited friends in beach towns, enjoyed the sun, partied a little, then hit the books again when it was done. Seemed to rest my brain so i could focus again.

I go outside and play with my two Rottweilers. One likes to lay down and get pet, the other is obsessed with chasing her tennis ball.

I go to Baylor across the street and do the same, also tryign to put myself in the environment. I also study at the medical library sometimes, so that I can see oterh students and doctors studying. Hanging out with friends is always stress relieving. I try and take a day a week to myself without any MCAT at all or very little.
