How do my fellow SDNer's handle the stress of knowing that their application is before an admissions committee? I know for a fact (well, unless the person who should know lied to me) that my application to a particular school/program is going to be under review tomorrow (Monday).

it doesnt help so much, i start thinking about it agin anyway maybe i havent had enough yet

or maybe use sdn

How do I deal with all my problems in life?

SEX & ALCOHOL

uhh...thanks guys. But I think the amount of alcohol required would leave me unable to study, check on my rats in the lab, read the journal articles I'm behind on, let alone get a decent REM cycle or two in. And maybe breath.

Any other suggestions?

the big decision was made for me on tuesday. when am i going to find out what they decided??? :scared: AAAAAAAH. it's not so much that i was uptight when the decision was made. i'm more uptight now that i know i will be finding a letter in my mailbox one of these days!

you could try going for a nice long run or swim. that always calms my nerves a bit.

I'm pretty sure I'll be getting an email. Of course, tomorrow I could just go up about about 4 floors from my student lounge, walk into the meeting, and just sit there taking notes acting like I'm supposed to be there 😉

I'm not sure this is the best place to keep your mind off it. I think I'm going to have to seriously limit my SDN time the 1st two weeks of March--I don't know if my nerves could stand it to hear about people getting letters from my schools if I'm still waiting ... I second lola--go for a nice long run. Good luck!

i contemplated being put under general anesthesia until Cornell sent out their decisions 🙁

i am gonna personally hop into my own cryogenic chamber and freeze out the next month until the end of march. (well, except for a couple of days... 😉 ) but that plan is plan B, unfortunately, only because building my own private wormhole didn't work out. 🙁

There is a lot of truth to that.
When I received my first two acceptances, SDN was down, and the time away from it seem to keep my mind off of the committee meeting at one school post-interview, and the anticpation of the Texas match.

It's amazing how long it feels when you're waiting, but once you're in, that period of time between the MCAT and your acceptance feels like a snapshot in time in retrospect.

I'm off to the YMCA for a nice cardiovascular workout. If that doesn't help, I'll consider a general anesthetic. Although I'm not sure how well I'll do in my anatomy midterm if I'm unconscious.

Here's what I want you to do. Spend the next 5 minutes worrying about your application. Sit there and just dwell on it. Worry about all the things that could have gone wrong, what you coulda/shoulda said.

After the 5 minutes are up, ask yourself if you accomplished anything. The only thing you've done is work yourself up, and waste 5 precious minutes of your life.

"worrying is like being in a rocking chair. It will give you something to do, but it won't accomplish anything".

Go out and have a drink or something.

Try wanking.

P.S. I'm sure you'll be fine.

Say the hell with it all and "que sera, sera." What will be, will be.

Go on with your life as usual. Everything will work itself out somehow.
