Wow this is really challenging. I'm trying to apply for some summer research internships and I can't even begin my personal statement for any of them. How do I freaking BEGIN this damn thing!? I have dodged it for a week but I have to get serious now. Thanks!

Pretty please admit me. Thank you. Oh, I'd be a really great doctor, too!

Peace.

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...

HOKAY, so here's the earth...

Seriously, just word vomit and it'll come to you. Any quality thing that I've ever written has been composed out of order. That would be why I suck at in-class essays.

I actually like having a detailed outline before I start writing the body of the essay. Try listing out a couple of things you might want to talk about. Then arrange everything in an order that makes sense and start writing. Good Luck!

Step 1: Think about your college experience and what has been most influential to you.

Step 2: Figure out what experiences, events, whatever has caused you to become a doctor.

Step 3: Demonstrate that you know enough about yourself and the medical field to make the decision to become a doctor.

Step 4: PROFIT

Have mercy on us, the readers, and do not begin with lights and sirens, a dialogue between two EMTs, or a quote from literature. Thank you.

LOL that was one of my very early rough drafts, thank goodness none of it made the final cut.

I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don't have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you accept me now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you.

But when do we steal underpants?

start it off like this...

Now, this is the story all about how
My life got flipped-turned upside down
And I'd like to take a minute
Just sit right there
I'll tell you how I came to the decision of being a doctor of care

The rest will come naturally...
