So I know this has been asked before, but I am just going to bring it up again. I want to thank my letter writers for writing me a strong letter. I am thinking about hand written cards with a small gift card. The thing is that I really don't know where they live (and it would be weird for me to send to their home directly even if I do know), even asking for their addresses seems weird. Email just seems too informal.

Also, my letter is written by two people collectively. Will this be a problem? I know a LOR is usually written by one person, unless it is a committee letter. One writer is my school provost (who is relatively busy) and the other is his staff member. Should I send cards to them separately?

I would send to them both separate thank you letters. For me, I gave each writer a small thoughtful gift and wrote a short thank you note.

Handwritten or typed and signed? Because my handwriting isn't really something I am proud of

I typed mine up because my chicken scratch is nothing to be proud of. I would rather have them be able to read my typed note as opposed to deciphering hieroglyphics . Lol @SrJulio

I'm very close with my writers so I sent them all thank you cards and joked that they could come find me sometime after spring 2020 and I'll hook them up with a free cleaning

Being from Seattle, Starbucks gift cards are the go-tos.

So how should I deliver the cards? Ask them for their home addresses?

I ordered an Edible Arrangements for the dentist who I shadowed and wrote my letter and brought it to his office with a written card. For all my professors took a nice chocolate from Trader Joes and a thank you card. Just showed up to the end of their classes.

I sent mine to their office address. But you can say something like "I'd like to thank you for all of your help. What is the best address so that I can do so?"

An all-expenses-paid cruise should do the trick.
Inviting my school provost for a dinner? I don't think so. Thank you for the suggestion though. I guess if I knew what he liked to eat, I would give him a restaurant gift card. Instead, I will go with the safer route, Starbucks

Can never go wrong with Starbucks

I took my dentist (and his whole staff) I shadowed and had write me a letter a ton of bagels and assorted spreads from a nice place in town. They really appreciated it.

I just sent thank you letters to professors lol

Buying snacks for a office you shadowed is a nice gesture.

I demand you like my comment on that 😛
