When a medical student/resident/attending hears about the medical education in Hungary, Poland, Crezch Rep, and Slovakia? In American culture, which country sounds the most modern?

I attend medical school in Poland (I'm Norwegian though) in an english 6 year program. My school also has a 4MD program made specifically for American students.

My school follows American curriculum and has NBME exams sent from the states for all the major basic and clinical classes. There are also meetings regarding USMLE planning etc..

I know for sure that Poland is better than the other said countries (depends on what school you go to though) when it comes for americans and passing rate. Not going to go into details because it takes to long to list everything.

The first surgon to preform a facial transplant in the USA went to my school and now works at the Philadelphia clinic as a head attending.. She held a seminar at my school last week actually..

Alot of Norwegians study in Eastern Europe (most in Poland) b/c there is so few university spots in medicine in Norway so the goverment funds students to go abroad to study instead of making new spots (cheaper than building more universities). So thats how I ended up here.

Europe: germany, the Brits, France, Italy, the Swiss, and SweedeIn

America-ish: Canada, Australia, Japan, and the British again.

The third world: everyone else.

Charles University in Prague is roughly 130 - 150 years old. I wouldn't consider it a third world university.

I don't think most Americans are really up on the state of eastern European universities. If you're trying to go from them to the US, none of those are going to impress anyone.

Now if only age was what determined 3rd vs. 1st world...

I don't think there is any categorization of those school in these countries. It depends on how well you score on the USMLE, your clinical letters and other research areas.

Czech Republic is officially listed as a developed country while Poland and Hungary and still in the "developing" category.

Charles Univ. rocks! It's hard as hell but it's worth it. I know it coz I study there.

I'm not American and I think that in American culture, "Praque" sounds more modern than any of those countries you mentioned 😉
