I'm a freshman and I have 15 credit hours (bio+lab, chem+lab, calc, philosophy, fresh seminar) I have tried and tried in my calc 1 class but nothing has worked. I have been teaching myself the material ever since the class started. The professor cannot teach for his life, and it is hurting my grade. My grade is slowly declining and I can't take it anymore. The deadline to get a W is friday, and this is such a sad moment for me. I really don't want to drop the class, but the class is getting more intense, and the professor's learning style isn't helping whatsoever. I have tried to get help, I have tried to ask questions, but nothing helps. The material we have been covering for the last week and a half has been very unclear to me. I know that it is only going to get worse from here, which is why the last test and the final are worrying me about my grade getting a major hit. If I drop the class, I'll take the class again with a new professor next semester, but then the bad thing is I'll get a W, have to take it again, and I'll go down to 12 credit hours. How are med schools going to view this, especially the W? Im so frustrated right now I just don't know what to do. If you guys could please help me out I'd really appreciate it, Thanks.

Why are you creating so many threads to discuss about the same freshman fall semester? That's one of the worst cases of anxiety I have encountered. Sorry to be crude, but it's better for you to reduce your anxiety now before heading to more difficult courses.

No, a W won't hurt, but it's meaningless to take a W in an intro course. If you're really struggling in a class, medical emergency etc. take a W.

Have you tried looking at your lecture notes/slides etc.? Maybe review from the textbook? Try Khan Academy etc? Look at the other threads to improve your study strategy.
