How does AMCAS calculate one's BCPM and GPA?
When I calculate them myself with a calculator, my GPA is always lower than the spreadsheet... why?
What is the exact way to do it?

I had two questions along the same lines, so I'll just lump them in with this thread:

1) How does AMCAS calculate gpa for this situation. I took a course half way through, was forgiven due to being sick, and received no grade. The following quarter I repeated the course and earned an A.

2) My major is medical technology. Most of the courses are heavy on biology even though they don't hail from the biology department of my university. Is it okay to classify these as biology, and thus be included in BCPM gpa?

Thanks....

1. When you say "forgiven", did you get a W? W's and WF's are handled the way that your university handles them (a user just emailed and called AMCAS to verify that a WF won't hurt you if your university didn't count it as an F).

2. Maybe. Check out the AMCAS instructions, there is a complete list of classes that count towards BCPM.
