I failed the first year of medical school and am going to restart M1 year in a few months. I made a lot of errors and have gotten advice and help from my school's learning specialist. I think I can turn things around as most of my grades were pretty borderline

I'm just wondering what kind of environment I will be walking into when I begin my repeat year. How do professors generally view students who failed?

What do profs/ faculty think of students that are repeating or restarting? I ask because I want to know if its going to be harder to get opportunities in leadership roles, research, clubs, etc. Are some profs or faculty members going to blacklist me for some opportunities or are they just not going to care?

No one cares, just focus on passing. If you’ve shown yourself to be a student that actually goes to class but just didn’t do well then they may want to help you more. If you didn’t and failed they may not be too interested in helping but they’ll still do their job. You don’t need to be worried about anything extra, just pass your classes.

Agree with above post, won't be an issue for professors. For leadership/clubs, I doubt it will be a barrier. That kind of stuff is usually run by students anyway, not professors and most people didn't bother due to lack of interest. My class was about 115 ppl, like 3 people ran for class president and a lot of the other positions were filled by default because random ppl volunteered. I think you'll be fine.

Research depends on your school so I can't really speak to that. Best of luck!
