I have never taken out a loan for school and am quite confused... please make my worries disappear...

I have just been accepted to MSUCOM and it costs 65-70K a year.

My only question is, can I borrow enough to cover this tuition and still be able to live during med school?

Thanks so much!

As long as you don't have bad credit you will be able to borrow all that you need to attend med school. You just may not like all the interest you will be paying.

No you can't borrow enough, looks like your gonna have to become a stripper 🙂

Seriously use the search function. This topic has been discussed in detail many, many, many times

The site actually did a search for me when I made this topic. However, with the recession, cost of MSU vs. other D.O. schools, and increasing tuition costs, none of those prior threads fit my question. Sorry to repost🙂...

Who cares if you repost, honestly....Don't worry about the people who constantly badger others about using the search function. Ask your question as many times as you want, you may get different answers from many other people, ESPECIALLY if something you searched for was from 2000 or whatever.

dont get on here and post just to tell someone to use the search function. It is getting really old....just answer the post or don't.

Thank you.🙂

The point about searching is there have been extensive threads on some topics with advice that no one can top. Many folks don't bother trying a search. So we remind.

Hey, I am a first year at MSUCOM, and am a OOS student. http://com.msu.edu/ss/scholarships.html - Look through this link and start filling out the application for the various scholarships that are available to incoming first years. There is one that is specific to OOS students, and will help cut down the cost of tuition. A lot of OOS do the HPSP as well, which is how I am paying for medical school. The National Guard & National Health Service Corps have other programs that can assist w/ tuition too. Definitely call and talk to MSU's Medical Financial Aid Dept.

I did answer the post. There is so much information about grad plus loans and fafsa already on these boards that I was telling the OP to do a search. This isnt a topic that would only be answered since 2000, since all loans are federal.

OK, sorry my question turned into such a big deal. First off, I did check a search and found nothing I thought relevant to my situation. Second, thank you for the ones who have given me useful information. I really appreciate it. Third, thanks for the reminder about searches; I'm sure you were only trying to be helpful.

Alright, I have my answer; we can close this question, if you don't mind. Thank you again.🙂

There is only so much s*** to talk about on SDN anyway...and you then end up in the realm of reposting. Pretty much every single thread in these forums wind up with some guy posting "Do a search" in about just as much time as it takes to answer the question. Most people are not idiots and can figure out a search function without being "reminded" all the time.

Lots of glorious loans, subsidized with gamete donations if you'd like. Surely being a med student garners a premium price?
