There's no science gpa, it's overall gpa and pre-req gpa, if that's what you're asking. OptomCAS will calculate an overall gpa for you but each school, depending on its pre-requisites, will calculate a pre-req gpa independently. So just read the schools' websites and they should tell you what classes to include as pre-req.

Oh...okay thanks.

Are they calculated by credit hours or just number of credits? Or does each school do it differently.

GPA is calculated via a pre-determined formula, so everyone does it the same. It's a combination of credit hours and grades received for X credit hours. You can google "GPA calculator" or something like that and find something pretty easily.

Q: How are the OptomCAS GPAs calculated?
A: OptomCAS will calculate numerous GPAs. The GPAs and hours will be summarized by academic year within undergraduate (freshman through senior year), post baccalaureate, and graduate work as well as summarized by area of study. There will also be a running total GPA for each academic year that will add all coursework together for an overall total GPA. The GPAs that will be calculated are:

  • Overall
  • Undergraduate
  • Post Baccalaureate
  • Graduate
  • GPAs by course subject
  • Biology/Life Science
  • Chemistry
  • Physics
  • English
  • Math
  • General Non-Science
  • Other Science
  • Psychology
I copied this from optomcas' web site. Just do a little snooping.
