3.4/3.3, 23 mcat (going to retake)
I was going to sign up for do schools but i dont think thats for me. how would it look to schools if I took the new mcat did well and took a couple classes between now and next years app cycle?
During this time I can take some difficult classes to show im competent and really dedicate my time to studying for the new mcat. if i were to get a good percentile on the exam would md schools be willing to look over a half year of inactivity?

Why don't you think it's for you? And what were you averaging on practice exams?

I dont like omm and would feel a lot better going to an md school. I was averaging 27-28 but that was with a lot of pressure. Now I can take my time and really study.

You have a long way to go for MD schools. You need to realistically score above a 32 at the bare minimum and ideally your GPA needs to be higher. This isn't to say you have no chance. But it is to say it will be an uphill battle.

Correct. Even if you get your gpa up to 3.5, you would need at least a 30.

I understand that but if I can bring it up to a 3.6/3.5 and a translated 30+ score on the new mcat, is there a chance? or does my half year of inactivity throw me out?

You will not get into a good DO school with those numbers. Mabey not any do school at all, unless you like live in wv or okay with going to Liberty (plez don't)

Easier said than done. GPA will be hard work, mcat may not happen even with your best efforts. Retake and shoot for mid 20's. you'll be good for some ok DO schools then.

It's not the inactivity that will hurt. It is the fact that you know have the permanent burden of a very low MCAT and below average GPA on your record. Keep in mind a 30 is >90th percentile. Assuming a 30+ is far from certain. And that won't cover up your 23 either. Many schools average scores.

Well thank you guys for your honest I just wanted to know if it would be too late to turn this around for md
