What is a typical day and week for this course? I noticed that each class session is 3 hours long. Does that mean FLs are separate?

Thanks!

I didn't take their online course but I did take the regular in-class version. They want you to take like 5 FLs during the course. You do the FLs on your own time. It's your choice when and how many FLs you do.

The live online is exactly like the in class course. You are able to ask questions during class. Each class is about three hours long. You typically do two passages per class. As mentioned above the FL you do on your own time.

So are class sessions more like content review sessions? Or do they ever go over fls in class?

Just content review. They will go over the two passages you do during the class. However each instructors usually give you their email so if you have a specific question you could email them.

I'm currently going through a TPR online class right now! Classes are 4 days a week, for 3 hours each. Each day is a different subject, and the days of the week each subject is taught often changes -- for example, there are fewer organic chemistry and physics classes to take than biology/biochemistry, so while you can expect to have one biology/biochemistry class each week, you may not have an organic chemistry class one week. Homework before class includes reading relevant chapters out of the book (same as if you buy the TPR box set) and a quick Amplifire module (~6 related questions) for a baseline.

In class, the instructor (different for each subject) will more or less go through exactly what you were supposed to read before class -- in less detail, but hitting the most important points. You will also do 1-2 passages out of the In Class Compendium during class and go over the answers. After class, homework consists of at least one Amplifire module and several online, Science Workbook, and book passages. It's a lot to go through and keep up with! :drowning: Overall, I find it helpful because there is absolutely no way that I would have set such an accelerated schedule for myself. In addition, asking questions in class (vs. using the self-guided package) is great because I have been able to dispel some very old misconceptions that I've had on some subjects. For FLs, TPR suggests you take at least one every other week, starting after the first week of classes. I actually just took my first one today! :yuck:

Overall, I'm pretty happy with my choice to go through TPR, even though my wallet isn't. I also looked at Kaplan's MCAT courses (one of my friends is taking one in person), but couldn't stomach the fact that they charge the same price but only meet once a week.

Ok great then does everyone in the class pretty much go over the fls by themselves?

Are psych and sociology included?

How quickly does the class fill up?

I imagine so -- there were diagnostic tests (one for each subject, all free-standing questions) that we all took on our own before classes started. At the moment, psych and soc aren't built into the schedule -- there are 6 classes for P/S (3 hours each, same as everything else) which you schedule for yourself. I'm not really sure how quickly the classes fill up, but I think there are a little over 40 people in my online class. A lot of them had actually signed up for in-person classes that were canceled due to not having enough interest. I personally signed up less than a week before classes were supposed to start, so I imagine that they don't fill up that quickly.
