Maybe that's why they screened so carefully this year...Perhaps they're trying to go for those applicants who won't go elsewhere? I dunno how they'd gauge that simply from the AMCAS app though. I found this under the Class Profile btw:

They must be interviewing more than 400 people, or they would have to accept everyone pretty much. How big is their class?

108 students

Much obliged. 9%, so approximately 400 or so interviews if they get over 4000 applications. This seems really low given that WF is no powerhouse and many acceptees are likely to withdraw and go somewhere else.

The nice thing is that it makes the waitlist a decent place as they never over accept.

What words are you learning?

We started with the back and moved to the Thorax. Our first test is Monday. We'll have three more tests before the cumulative final at the end of October, although the final only counts for 10% of the grade.

got the rejection today, although with my gpa, not really surprised

Sorry man, I hope your other apps do well. From one low GPA guy to another I can tell you that the rejections pile up but all you need to do is get into one school.

Rumor has it that Wake Forest tends to accept those that have a specific interest in the school. So what are the attractive qualities of this school located in a town that seems to be named after cigarettes?

Actually, the cigarettes were named after the town.

I dont care what the dean says...there is a formula of some sort or a computer that will automatically cut applicants out. I would imagine an 8 is an autoreject - in any section. I feel that if a school relies so heavily on numbers like that, they owe it to people to cut the BS and post this information so the applicants dont waste even more money than they already do. It is not like Wake benefits from the AMCAS cost of applying, so if they autoreject pre-secondary, they really should let people know. Just my two cents though. All I can say is this - on a somewhat related note - I wonder what goes on behind closed doors of an adcom. I recognize the difficulty in selecting an applicant for a seat with so many qualified applicants/seats available, but it does seem soooo random.

Hey everyone! I am sorry to hear you are all so upset about Wake's admission process. I know the whole thing in general is baffling. Since interviews have started I've been helping out and talking with admissions and have found out a little more about their process. They do screen based on numbers, as many of you have guessed. They have told me that if you have a 7 on any subsection of the MCAT, you won't get a secondary. Now, I think one person on this thread has gotten a 7, but hey, I'm just the messenger. Another interesting thing is they rank your app based on your undergraduate institution. They use a ranking system that I'm sure people have heard of but has slipped my mind. Anyway, so that whole package makes up a cutoff point and if you're above it, you get a secondary.

On another post someone was asking about the early assurance program. I think in our class of 111, 3 are early assurance. I don't think that's a lot considering how many they interview.

Oh, one last thing. Wake is completely private so there is no in-state preference. I'm from California and most of my friends are from out of state. Now, maybe half the class is from NC but that is probably due to the sheer numbers of North Carolinians that apply in relation to those from out of state.

Alright, that's my 2 cents. Good luck!

Thanks for your two cents!

Do you know how they choose who gets an interview?????

Do you know if they accepted updated information?

Thanks!

So do I! Does anyone know.....

For those of you who have done wake's secondary:

I'm on the secondary information page and about to log on to start working on it, but right before the login it says "Please allow enough time to complete all steps of the application process"

Does this mean once I log in I have to finish it soon afterwards? Or just that it can't save my responses w/o submitting it?

I don't know about that whole autoreject thing. I have an insanely low...and I mean insanely low...science GPA from undergrad and I got a secondary.

just save your responses. at worst save them to your word processor. Don't worry about it. just fill it out.
