Hey all I was recently at a conference and it was mentioned by a 4th year that they were able to open their ERAS a year early and store their LORs in there until he applied. I didn't get to ask him questions and wanted to see if anyone knew about this.

I'm a 2nd year so I know ERAS is a ways away but I do have a Professor I got top 10% in for his courses and he I and really have a good relationship and I know he'd be willing to write me a LOR. He's our chair of the physiology department so I'd really like the LOR before years pass and its not fresh on his mind.

I was told you don't use a Letter service to hold the letters so I'm wondering if I can open an ERAS and have the letter uploaded and stored there until I'm ready to submit my application. I'm not familiar with ERAS at all so I was just wondering if anyone's had similar experience.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, I just like planning ahead

Thanks

Our school gave us a token to activate ERAS in 3rd year and have access only to the LOR category for now. I'd contact your clinical affairs department and see what they have to say. Nice work!

Ok thiis is good to know. I'll reach out to my clinical affairs people. I also wanted to make sure if I started storing letters that it wouldn't look like I applied for residencies and didn't match and was reapplying for the 2nd or 3rd time again with ERAS once it actually comes time to apply haha. I don't know if that's a thing
