Don't rely on it. Test makers are aware of this theory and try to make problems where you can't use it. TFE was SO hard for me at first, but it got easier as I went along.

Its a good way to help you eliminate a few wrong choices, but there will always be a few choices where this method won't work. From this point on, you will have to use your perceptual ability to deduce which one is correct. ("Should this line be solid or dashed?")
